Title:  We Aren’t The Nonprofit, We Make the Nonprofit Better!

Synopsis:  Like the chemical company that “doesn’t make the product, they only make it better”, the Front Range Executive Service Corps (FRESC) is focused on making nonprofits more productive in terms of reaching their visions and accomplishing their missions.  This objective is achieved via a mix of pro bono and minimal fee work delivered by retired business executives.

Article Body:

The Front Range Executive Service Corps (FRESC) was established in January 2007 as a program of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence.  The FRESC mission is: To help area nonprofit organizations more effectively and efficiently achieve their missions by providing high quality, affordable consulting services.  We accomplish this mission by applying the skills and experiences of seasoned business executives via a mix of pro bono and low cost consulting services.

We offer a broad selection of services including business consulting, board facilitation, practical training, and executive mentoring, with a strong focus on business processes that include:

Ø      Strategic planning

Ø      Financial management

Ø      Community relations

Ø      Board development

Ø      Human resource development

Ø      Technology strategy & planning

We offer these services through a mix of pro bono and low cost consulting services that are predicated on the scope of the work and the capability of the nonprofit to pay.  Many of our clients ask, “Why charge at all for these services?”  Our answer is short and simple; we find that a financial commitment to a desired result produces the organizational commitment to stay involved with, and to own, the work.  Our goal is to prepare the organization to move forward after our engagement with a minimal amount of assistance from us or other outside agencies.

Within the past few months, FRESC has undertaken several large engagements to:

Ø      Help a client align its business and technology strategies to meet a change in vision and mission

Ø      Lead and facilitate a nonprofit board workshop focused on revising mission and strategy, with a follow-on project to build a new strategic business plan

Ø      Facilitate a renewal process and strategic plan for a historical organization
